Crickels!

I have mentioned before that Cricket is my oldest horse at almost 17 years of age, but no one ever believes me! She has had 11 foals, yet she is in excellent shape and most people think Buck and Misty are older than Cricket.
She loves to run....she has some thoroughbred in her way back so she has the legs to go!
I love watching her move...she is very fluid and when you ride her....its like riding a pillow...she is one of the most comfortable horses I have ever ridden!
She does have some arthritis....but she is 16.5 years old and she had carried 11 foals, so that puts a lot of strain on the old legs. She is on glucosamine, but Buck has been dong phenonmenally well on Corta flex...so when Cricket uses up her Gluc I am going to put her on Corta Flex too.
Here I am!

Growing and Gaining Experience

ACE MAN! He is getting so big now! He is taller and filled out, such a handsome boy! I cannot wait to ride him! I keep telling him that he is going to be my trail horse ;)
I like to take Ace out sometimes and introduce him to all kinds of new things. I want him to be familiar and comfortable with this stuff when he is a riding horse and the best way is to introduce them when they are little guys. So I take him down the road and cars pass us; we walk through the trails; step over logs and under branches; listen to things rattle and make noise and just experience all kinds of new stuff. Soon I hope to be able to pony him off of one of the big guys which will also be an invaluable training tool. Anything I have in my hand goes on his back and I just around him too.

Look Alikes

Buck and Misty look remarkably alike. They are pretty similar in many ways acutally....they both need shoes; they both has abcesses in their back left foot; they are both well trained to saddle; they both ride on the road.........of course they have many differences as well...Buck is very social and Misty is more aloof; Buck is very fast and Misty just likes to plod along; Misty is great alone in a field where Buck hates it....
Phoenix loves to eat the berries that glow along the fence line...I am not too sure what kind they are but she has been eating them all summer long with no ill effects so I am assuming they are ok!
Cricket LOVES new horses....she spends all her time trying to get close to the new horses so she can sniff them....its actually pretty funny because while she likes to sniff the new horses she does NOT like them to sniff her! lol Crickels....

Running Shoes and Pregnancy

Misty ALWAYS comes running when I call her name....I LOVE IT! Plus she is fine alone, does not scream and carry on like some of the others when she is left by herself.....its great :) She is feeling pretty good now....her feet are still a little sore, but she had an abcess about one month ago so that is why. Yesterday I had the farrier put shoes on her and Buck and they are moving so much better its quite amazing....Buck was cantering al around the field when I told him to go and try out his new shoes :)
Here they come!!! Sometimes when I arrive I give them each a little treat and this helps to keep them coming each time I go to the gate, which I love. Makes it much easier to catch a horse if the willingly come to you!
Bucky had shoes put on yesterday. His feet had some brusing on them, poor fella. He has low soles. But the difference was like night and day....he was cantering around the field having a blast while before he really only cantered if the others were.....he is feeling good, between the chiropractor, the joint meds and his shoes he is a very fast boy and just rockets down the trails!
Aw Pheeny! She is 102 days along in her pregnancy now and al is going well. She is beginning to get a bit of a tummy, its dropping a bit lower now....but she is also nourishing her foal from her own reserves now...its really amazing and I can't wait until May!

Its A Family Affair!

We FINALLY got Cher out to ride! Mom is on Cricket, I am on Phoenix and Cher is on Bucky.
Back from an awesome ride. We went down the road and out into the fields across the way. It was great.
Whoohoo look at us!
Home again. See ya on the next ride!

A New Girl

This is Misty. She is a foundation bred, registered quarter horse. She looks very much like Buck, however she is a red dun and Buck is a Buckskin. His legs are dark and so are his mane and tail. But they do look very much a like, especially out in the field. Look at the beautiful western headset!
She is such a nice girl, she is VERY well trained and neck reins like a dream.
Misty!

ACE-MAN in His First Show!!

Ace (Tuxedos Flyin Ace) and Lito (Tuxedos Lucky Lito) in their first show ever! whoohoo! The boys both did great and I am happy to say even with all the competition (and there was lots) Ace did NOT come in last :)
Ace strutting his stuff for the judge. I was nervous, I have never been in a show before and there was a lot of people around watching, but it was fun!
Ace doing a pivot. He did it REALLY well, see how he is crossing his legs in the pivot?
Lining up for inspection by the judge. What a great day :)

Ace and His Little Bro...and Others

Ace takes a chomp on Lito. He is just teaching his little brother who is the boss.
Aren't they so cute together? Don't they look so much a like?
Ace and Lito getting acquainted.
Ace just having a blast running through the fields.
The neighbour bought some horses and put them out in the fields next to my horses. These guys just noticed then new horses and are watching them intently.

ACE-MAN In His First Parade!!

Ace was in the Stirling Parade last weekend. He was such a gooooood boy! It was his first time out in a parade with all the noise and people and other animals around and he was sooo good. I was very pleased with him.
Tuxedos Flyin Ace walking beside his little brother Tuxedos Lucky Lito.
Ace and Lito in the parade. They got lots of comments beacause they looked like twins! The little filly in front of them in this picture is their sister and the black and white stallion behind them is everyones daddy. It was a family affair!!
Ace and his daddy hang out at the end of the parade. It was a great day and I like this picture of them. His dad is awesome too!
